Lake Trekking, a wonderful place to be if your are dreaming for a most scenic
spot in Himalaya or in this world, where this fascinating walk leads you to
pristine country full of beautiful scenery, with mind-blowing views of snow
mountains to rolling green hills to valley in the harmony of local ancient
culture.
Rara
Lake Trekking, certainly delights you as soon you set foot around Nepal Far
Western region at Jumla after taking a flight from Kathmandu with transit at
Nepalgunj city, at Jumla within alpine cooler climate where walks starts to our
fantastic destination at Rara Lake.
As
journey progress walking into interesting villages with well tended farms
fields and terraces, where this remote end of Nepal was once a flourishing
kingdom around Malla regime that ruled parts of Nepal including Kathmandu since
6th to 17th Century, till Shah Monarchy took over.
Walking
into gorge and valley passing several old villages of Sinja with historical
background then entering into cool shade of alpine woodland to reach at
beautiful Rara Lake surrounded by great beautiful scenery with forest of
pines-spruce and oaks tree lines.
Rara
Lake falls within Rara National Park one of smallest park of Nepal within
Himalaya region area of 106 sq.kms which is within another district called Mugu
within Karnali Zone of Nepal Far West with Nepal largest lake of about 10.8 sq.
kms wide ranging from 1,800 m to above 4,000 m, where Rara Lake is at 2,990 m
high.
Blessed
with magnificent scenery with lake-mountains surrounded by enchanting forest of
deciduous trees like chestnut, walnuts, Himalayan popular, spruce and oaks
includes cypress and varieties of species.
Rara national park where wild animals and bird life are
found, like Himalayan black bear, leopard, Goral, Himalayan Thar and wild
boar. Snow trout is the only fish
species recorded in the lake. Resident Gallinaceous birds and migrant waterfowl
are also quite commonly sighted in this area.
Birds-life includes crested grebe, black-necked grebe, and
red-crested pochard are seen during winter, other birds are snow-cock, chukor
partridge, Impeyan pheasant, Kalij pheasant and blood pheasant.
After a lovely and fascinating time around Rara Lake heading
back to Jumla taking a scenic alternative route through high ridges and hills
covered within beautiful woodland to reach back into farm village and then at
Jumla for panoramic flight to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj, with amazing experience
and memories on Rara Lake Trekking.

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu 1,345 m
and then transfer to respective Hotels
On reaching
at Kathmandu international airport received by our representative and guide,
then transfer for short drive in the heart of Kathmandu city and to your
hotels.
After
checking into your pleasant rooms then join in for group briefing regarding Rara
Lake Trekking with other useful information to make your stay in Nepal with us

Evening
includes group dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurant with cultural programs as

Day
02: In Kathmandu sightseeing tour and preparations for treks.
Morning after
breakfast in the hotel, our tour guide will take you in the heart of Kathmandu
city, for exciting historical and heritage tour of old Durbar (royal palace and
courtyard) square of great importance.
Tour includes Temple
of Kumari (Living young virgin Goddess) Kastamandap Temple where Kathmandu name
derived from, a temple built with the wood of a single tree, tour of old palace
during the reign of Malla and late Shah kings.
As tour continues
towards famed landmark of Nepal at Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,500 years
old a Buddhist Chaitya or Stupa, facing all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha, as tour

Afternoon tour of
famous Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath and visit Bouddhanath Stupa, one of the

exciting tour back to hotel preparation for Rara Lake Trekking.

Morning preparation and getting ready for
sweeping scenic flight towards Nepal Far West at Nepalgunj, located on low
areas known as Terai belt, the flat land of Nepal with sub-tropical
temperature.
As per the time for air journey transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for 50
minutes flight
Nepalgunj
city, which is close to border of UP, a state India, during flight excellent
views of Mountains, at Nepalgunj in a nice hotel for overnight halt.
Day
04: Fly to Jumla 2,475 m start walk to
Chauriya Chaur 3,045 m - 04 hrs.
After
early breakfast then connect with flight to Jumla for Rara Lake Treks, on
reaching Jumla meet our trekking / camping staff, and then starts walk past
lovely farm villages with time to enjoy around Jumla, headquarter town of the
district Jumla.
As
walk proceed heading higher trail offering grand views of nearby snow clad
peaks and rolling green hills landscapes till a small place at Chauriya Chaur
is reached for overnight stop.
Day 05: Trek on route
Bota crossing Jaljala pass at 3,585 m - 06 hrs.
After a wonderful first overnight, start the morning
with uphill climb into rhododendron, birch and pine forest to reach a ridge
top, this is a small pass called Jaljala Bhanjyang with views of Kanjiroba
Himal.
Continue walk into wilderness starting with
downhill for few hours to a summer pasture for overnight camp on a nice grassy
field in the middle of nowhere.
Day 06: Trek to Botan 2,
680m via Sinja-Khola
Morning on downhill walk to old kingdom of Sinja
following Jaljala Khola (stream) then into dense pine forest leading to
terraced farm village at Sinja (this was a former old kingdom during medieval Malla
period), observe this ancient rundown temples and monuments, old sculptured
stones, covered in thick moss and weeds.
From here walk upstream to a small village of
Ganj, and then continue to reach an interesting gorge and then reaching at
Botan village for overnight halt.
Day 07: Trek to
Ghorasinga 3,050m near Rara Lake - 06 hrs.
A lovely walk to Ghorsain to reach near the
entrance of Rara National Park, after leaving Sinja Khola following Ghatte
Khola (stream) further north, and then with short climb to scenic valley within
farm areas, here witness interesting primitive water grinding mill.
Walk continue to Ghorasain a small village for
overnight stop, located on outer rim of Rara National Park, afternoon free to
explore around or just relax and catch up with your dairy.
Day08:TrektoRaraLake2,980m-05hrs.
Walk
reaching our major destination at Rara Lake, morning walk begins with climb to
Chuchemara Danda at 4, 260 meters high, offering grand views of mountains and
then downhill into forest of bamboo and birch trees, crossing Khatyar Khola to
reach our destination at Rara Lake for overnight stops.
Day09:Restdayforexcursionaroundthelake.
A perfect spot
for rest and free day to explore this marvelous surrounding area where western
trekkers seldom visits, a climb to a wooden tower for best views of Rara Lake
with beautiful rolling green hills and snowcapped peaks.
Day 10: Trek to Pina
2,440m via Jhyari 2,635 m- 05 hrs.
After enjoyable and pleasant time at Rara Lake,
return journey to Jumla taking a high route, where morning starts with a climb
to a ridge called Jhyari a small farm village.
Following Jhyari Bira Khola downstream then cross
Dhauligar Khola valley leading to our overnight stop at Pina, a nice small farm
village with few moderate size houses serving as lodge, tea shops.
Day11:TrektoChauta2,770mviaGhurchi-Lagna3,460m-06hrs.
Morning
leading to a climb up into pristine woodland with fabulous views of mountains
to reach at Ghurchi- Lagna pass, highest spot of this adventure the top
festooned with Buddhist prayer flags. After a lovely time with views descend to
a grassy meadow with walnut groves then walk into a narrow valley to Chauta
village for overnight stop with few simple lodges to stay if not in tents.
Day 12: Trek to Khaligaon
3,685 via Tharamara
After a pleasant
time at Chauta village, morning walk follows Sinja khola to Bumra village
leading past
overhanging rock at Kamra, a source of important herbal medicinal mineral
called
Silaji. From here long downhill walk to Sinja Khola,
walking past Nyawre village, with some
refreshing stop, and
then climb to Khaligaon after walking past Tharamara ridge top for
overnight camp.
Day13:TrekbacktoJumla-06hrs.
Last day walk
of the wonderful adventure where route takes you back at Jumla, morning starts
with a descend towards green valley lined with rhododendron, oaks and pines
trees, on leaving the forest area back into fertile farm country with well
tended fields.
From here walk past few small villages of Padmara
and then following the same river for some time to reach at Jumla town for last
overnight.
Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj and transfer
to respective hotels.
Morning taking an early
flight to reach back at Kathmandu from Jumla with short transit at
Nepalgunj city, where you
can enjoy refreshing breaks before flight to Kathmandu.
As per the flight time
for Kathmandu on large plane facing panorama of snow-capped peaks all
the way to Kathmandu, and
then transfer to your respective hotels.
Day
15:Free day at leisure with options for extra sightseeing tour.
Reserved as free and or contingency day
in case of flight delay and cancellation at Jumla which happens sometimes due to Himalayan bad and unfavorable,
unpredictable weather.

and last day in Nepal, country of high Himalaya and varied culture, after a
memorable experience and great scenic adventure on Rara Lake Trekking, and with
your time for international flight our staff transfer you to the airport
for homeward bound or to your next port
of call and respective destinations.
